The increasing focus on good environmental management is driven by the extensive requirements of legislation and what is acceptable practice in how railway services are delivered. The impact in railways is felt in stations, out on the track infrastructure and on traction and rolling stock and even though railways are seen as relatively environmentally friendly, there are still significant opportunities to improve performance in this area
FCP is able to offer informed consultancy advice on this topic; we understand the requirements of IS0 14001 and their application to railways. Important legislation on emissions, particularly diesel engine emissions, comes into effect over the next few years, which will demand changes in train equipment. In addition the whole process of energy usage in stations, depots and other railway buildings will require significant review and our experience and knowledge of railway infrastructure and traction and rolling stock equips FCP us to respond to client needs in the development and/or appraisal of proposed investment solutions.
