Feasibility Studies
For a complete overview of our engineering and infrastructure capabilities, please read our Capabilities in Rail Engineering document (PDF, 1.5Mb).
Whenever seeking to update and/or improve a railway facility, or possibly to mitigate an undesirable or frequently failing feature of the operation, it is vital to identify potential beneficial options and from this to undertake feasibility studies to determine the most cost effective solutions and investment. The railway is a multidisciplinary activity and great care is needed to ensure that in the evaluation of solutions that the key interfaces across the functions are clearly understood to achieve overall benefits to the railway.
Infrastructure and rolling stock type feasibility studies not only require knowledge and experience of professional competencies in engineering but also a clear understanding of how the operational railway performs, in particular the standards and safety requirements.
FCP is robustly resourced to offer technical advice and support at pre-feasibility, feasibility, project development, implementation, operation and maintenance stages of work. Our people understand what needs to be taken into account in relation to the whole life costing of a feasibility proposal to enable balanced recommendations to be carried forward so that business and financial plans are optimised.
