Infrastructure Specification, Design and Development
For a complete overview of our engineering and infrastructure capabilities, please read our Capabilities in Rail Engineering document (PDF, 1.5Mb).
Access to the track for the installation or maintenance of railway infrastructure can be extremely disruptive bringing disruption to passenger operations and freight. It is also likely to incur considerable costs over the 30 year life of infrastructure components. Getting the specification, design and development correct is critical to optimising track availability and minimising whole life costs.
We are able to provide services relating to general technical advice and support in all the principal engineering disciplines likely to be required in the development, implementation, maintenance and disposal of railway infrastructure. Although FCP is not an engineering design house, our people have extensive experience of railway engineering design, particularly through the management of major and multi-disciplinary projects on railways in South Africa, Argentina as well as the UK. They have extensive expertise in the areas of permanent way, railway structures and buildings, signalling and control, electrification and plant, railway safety and railway operations, whether high speed, suburban, rural or freight. Our strength in depth in the principal engineering disciplines enables us to provide reliable and comprehensive multi-disciplinary advice, recommendations and support to clients. Detailed design work can be managed and is available through sub-contract.
