Major and Multi-Disciplinary Projects
For a complete overview of our engineering and infrastructure capabilities, please read our Capabilities in Rail Engineering document (PDF, 1.5Mb).
Successful delivery of major projects on the railway depends on robust specification, design, development and installation from the different functional disciplines involved, but critically also the management of the various interfaces between them. To this must be added the critical interface with running the railway to minimise disruption during the implementation phase, especially where passenger operations and freight are affected.
FCP has strong experience at the critical engineering and operational interface. Our people, several of them project managers, have experience in all principal areas of railway capital projects from concept, through the feasibility, development, design, implementation, maintenance and renewal phases. They have been involved in many major railway projects undertaken in the UK, particularly for the Department for Transport, over the past twenty years as either client, consultant or contractor and have been closely involved in the operation, maintenance and renewal of the nation’s railway infrastructure. Their greatest strength is that they have “been there and done it”.
To ensure its fundamental match to the real issues of both the moment and the future, we believe that value for money is achieved by involving the First Class Partnerships team early in a project.
