Peter joined FCP as its Managing Director in 2002 since when he has led the expansion and diversification of the practice which is renowned as the leading strategic management railway consultancy in the UK. In the previous 18 years of his working life he gained a wide experience in technical and commercial environments across a varied spectrum of companies including Ferranti Defence, Pirelli, PPP healthcare and AXA where from 1999 to 2002 he was a member of the Group Executive and fulfilled the duties of Group Director, Strategic Procurement based in Paris. Pete was also a graduate 'Telemaque' of their renowned financial services University, based in Bordeaux and Paris.
Between 1989 and 1996 and since joining FCP Peter has also pursued a successful career in railways, initially leading a project team that developed a company plan for the overhaul of service quality and safety on the London Underground; then from 1992 to 1994 headed up and prepared for privatisation Quality & Safety Services Limited, a subsidiary of British Rail. Between 1994 and 1996 Peter played a leading role in helping a number of train companies in the southeast of England prepare for privatisation including the West Anglia-Great Northern Company where he was Commercial Director.
Following his Group Executive role at AXA, Peter has contributed substantially to developing the commercial capabilities that are essential in the modern railway and has personally undertaken contract negotiations worth hundreds of millions of pounds for clients that have included the Strategic Rail Authority, the Department for Transport and a number of major commercial companies and groups in the UK, the European Union, Scandinavia and the Far East. He is also a Director of Renaissance Trains, a promotional vehicle for new rail ventures. Since 1997 Peter has been a member of the Labour Party's finance and industry advisory group.
