Safety and Security
For a complete overview of our engineering and infrastructure capabilities, please read our Capabilities in Rail Engineering document (PDF, 1.5Mb).
The railway has always given a high profile to safety and security whether on trains, stations or the wider operational infrastructure. New concerns have arisen in recent years from terrorist activities or the rising problem of vandalism and graffitti. Risk measurement and risk management techniques must remain a dynamic tool to optimise prevention and to enable rapid and robust emergency response.
We recognise that solutions will need to be tailored to each specific location and circumstance. However, skill and experience are needed to obtain cost effect solutions which reduce risk in line with ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable). Our people are able to apply their expertise and experience to identify such solutions and to keep clients advised of any upgrading that may be required.
