Systems and Interface Management

For a complete overview of our engineering and infrastructure capabilities, please read our Capabilities in Rail Engineering document (PDF, 1.5Mb).

Today’s railway is an amalgam of sophisticated systems and processes, all inter linked and frequently dependent upon one another for efficient and safe day to day operation. Some of these systems are critical to performance and safety interfaces, none more so than when the ownership of interdependent assets and equipment is in different hands. The physical interfaces between wheel and rail or human factor interfaces between driver and trackside signals are just two obvious but critical examples. With the passage of time, the technical complexity of systems continues to grow to meet the needs of the expanding railway and again there is a requirement for informed and experienced advisors and suppliers who understand both the engineering and the wider operational context of how these systems interrelate.

Our people have been involved in these systems and there interfaces over many years, including leadership and participation in Railway System Steering Groups. With the breadth and depth of professional experience across all functions in FCP we are able to address functionality of existing systems but also bring informed multidisciplinary input to the development of emerging systems.
